I was wondering what u give you finches to bathe in? I have a parakeet bird bath that goes on the side of the cage through a feed door. I have 2 Zebras and they love it they splash around in it for a few seconds a couple of times a day.

...yes, we have those hang-on baths...and I just put in a bowl...

I also like using the ceramic cat food dishes...

...heavy, easy to clean...and you can get some cute ones too!

I like the hang-on baths, too. I used to clean mine by putting them right in the dishwasher, without the heat drying cycle. Recently, I forgot I had set the dishwasher for heat drying, and almost all my baths were a little melted by the heat! Thank goodness, it just made them a little out of shape, and they are still usable.

I use small glass bowls from KMart that Martha Stewart markets. Easy to clean.

Mine bathe in a bowl. A long, long time ago I tried using a bath that hooks on to the cage door, and a bird got its head stuck between the bath and the cage bars. I decided at that point not to use them anymore.

I use parakeet bath but I do not hang it on the side of their cage. I place it inside the cage (we have a flight cage) but first the grille with a plastic foil. Otherwise, the entire bottom would be soaked!
Society loves bathing but our Shaft-tail is not worse.

I had great drinking bottles for them, but with the Shaft-tail it was impossible to continue using them. He would constantly try to splash himself using the water from those drinking bottles and w/in an hour or two, there was no water left. Not to mention that the floor around the cage was pretty wet.

Anyway, the parakeet bath works great for our finches. They love it.

All of my finches have decided that the water dish is a great place to bathe. They have a very long water trough, that's divided into two sections. They seem to bathe in one section, and drink from the other. Anyway, I don't think I can stop them - they do it practically every day.

I use terracotta saucers with plastic saucers under them. One is 10" the other is 8". They are easy to clean, hold 6 or more finches for the popular communal bath, and give a good non-slip footing.

Mine bathe in their water dishes, which means that after the morning bath I have to mop up the floor and refill all of their water (which often prompts a second bath).

LOL, sounds very familiar!
If I forget to give them their bath, they start bathing in a water dish, I change the water and then start all over again.

I have a ceramic bowel in the flight cage, but I have never actually seen the Society finches bathe, but the water is always gone the next morning so I know something is going on. In the other cage I place a small bowel of water for the Zebra's, but again the water is almost gone the next morning even though I have not actually seen them in it.

I know my Society finches sleep in their seed container, why I can't imagine as I have three nest boxes in there.

I do the same thing Hoji. The plant saucers are really cheap too (like 50cents). I still have some various water dishes too that they use...they cram their whole body into the dish and then flap their wings with so much fervor that every time I see it I have to laugh.
