I can't believe you see them flying free in Florida, and we here in NY pay at least $70 for one.

They are very pretty birds with beautiful and very unique pointy tails. The only thing I do not care about is their chirping.

I've personally never owned these kind. What does everyone think of them? I've always thought about purchasing a pair...

Emilly, Shaft-tails have very beautiful coloring and that black bib is so jet black and so perfectly shaped.
Mine was very peaceful, would never bother any other finches or budgies.

You had your finches in with your budgies?

Yes, before I did. I had one Society and a Shaft-tail together in one flight cage. But when I bought more budgies, I separated the guys. It was just too many fids for one cage; even though, the cage is big and everyone was OK. No fighting, just a peaceful finch-budgie life.
