New Aviary Finally Finished

Post by blakbyrd » Sat Nov 03, 2007 8:37 pm

Well, as some of you here may have read before in regards to my questions about building an indoor aviary, I have finally finished it, and thought I would share a couple pictures of it. If anyone sees anything in particular from the pictures that they feel might be inappropriate or potentially dangerous for finches, please let me know.

All together, it cost about $500 to build and about 2 to 3 weeks to build by myself.

The bird area is about 7 foot wide, 14 foot deep and 7 foot high. On the left hand side is the door (in the first picture) which allows entry into the side hallway which has 1/2" wire mesh and another door to actually enter the aviary. Only the grass and the plant by the right side window are real, the rest are fake.

Anyone interested in more details on this project and its new inhabitants, can visit the site I am working on to give more indepth details. I will post the link to the site as a reply here once it is done (tonight or tomorrow).

Thanks for looking and enjoy (all comments and especially suggestions are greatly appreciated).

Looks wonderful! You have some very lucky finches to have an owner that cares about them so much!

I would beware with buying all the societies though only because they are more than likely all related since you bought them from the same place at the same time. So if you put nests in your aviary please don't let your societies breed together. :)

The spices could also be related. Just be careful.

Where do you live exactly? There are so many places on the internet that will sell you healthy birds for half the price as petsmart, although shipping makes up for your savings. I would just make sure to get different bloodlines.

Your website is great though!
