That is too funny!! It's probably just the material that they're afraid of.

What is vet wrap, anyway?

Beccafigs.....here is a link to Vet Wrap so you can see what it is....
Vet Wrap
I love this stuff! It is stretchy and clings to itself. I have used it for wrapping slippery perches when I had bigger birds and they didn't have a problem with it unless they figured out how to pull on it!
It is mostly used for wrapping horses legs and my daughter uses it for mending dogs and cats in her clinic.
I had bought some when I wanted something to wrap on my crutch handles for a better grip so I still had some left. So that is why I decided to put some on one of my finches perch which is turning out to be a small disaster...

I don't think you need to worry long - it's just something new (to them) in their cage and they are not sure what it's going to do to them.
I'm sure they'll be perching on it within a few hours or maybe tomorrow.

Liz.....well gosh darn....I guess I wasn't patient enough. I just removed the wrapping off the perch before I read your reply...hehe!
They were back on the perch about 15 minutes after I removed the wrapping...little stinkers!
Maybe I will try it again tomorrow and see how they do.

FF....I know....my finches have no taste whatsoever.
I haven't seen the stuff in clovers....now if they could just make it in something with a bird print or flowers!
I am going to try the wrap again today but only put it on one part of the perch and see how it goes. Maybe I just put too much on all at once.

Silly birds haha. I don't think the color would make them afraid. In fact, my socities, who happen to have excellent taste I might add

, prefer the color purple. I put a toy in their cage with a variety of string colors and they go for the purple three times more often than any other color so far.
Try again..you're probably right on adding too much at once.

I THINK I also saw some on e-bay. I bought some with little horse shoes on it, lol
