New birds from the Largo show

Post by cindy » Sun Sep 01, 2013 6:54 pm

Today was fun...traded a cage of 8 phaeo zebras to a friend for 2 pairs of fawn (males) -silver (hens) javas. Proven pairs. A pair of proven English Budgies, the hen is yellow face white, male a gorgeous Blue spangle. $ young budgies, a beautiful yellow male, a rainbow yellow face male, a nice looking dark gray male with hints of violet in his abdomen and a nice green yellow face.

I also bought 4 nice smaller breeding cages to...and a big jar of avian calcium w/ D3!!!

Pictures soon!!!

Sounds like you had a great day. Will be looking forward to pics.
BTW how do use the avian calcium/d3? Is it for coating mealworms ? I've thought about ordering some to help with chicks and to prevent eggbinding but not sure how to feed it out.

I usually do not use it since the pellets they eat contains extra calcium and D3. The kind I got is a water soluble powder or it can be mixed in eggfoods or veggies.

You know I almost went to that show today Cindy. Then I thought, I'd probably come home with birds that I really don't have any room for.
Instead, I spent the day at the beach and a good part of it trying to catch a loose budgie. I also made your maple/cider turkey. Smells delicious - it's still in the oven right now!
Fawn and silver javas are beautiful. Can't wait to see the pics. Do you plan on mixing them? Bob

Bob...the show was steady until about 2, I had white javas with me!!!!!

I plan on pairing fawn to silver, getting splits from both and pairing those for creams, opaline (I think...have to go back and check my notes) and isabels.
