Honey

We have a little girl Zebra Finch that we call Honey... Partly because of her pretty fawn coloring, but mostly due to her personality. She has the sweetest lil' disposition, which as you folks well know, for Zebra finches, (especially the hens) isn't all that common .
As long as we can remember, Honey hasn't be able to fly, but thanks to a series of perches and ladders, manages to get around her cage rather well. For quite a while now, whenever I put fresh food and water in her cage, Honey will climb her ladder and hop up a couple of perches to get to her spot... and patiently wait for me to drape a piece of her beloved spray millet in it's expected place, which she then will proceed to devour. The past couple of weeks however, for whatever reason, Honey hasn't been following her routine. Thinking the climb might be getting too difficult for her, I started placing another piece of millet at an easier spot for her to get to, lower down in the cage.
Last night as I was working in her cage, Honey hurried to her "new" spot, obviously in expectation of her favorite treat. Being the sucker that I am, I complied with her wishes and placed millet in both the new and the old spot, thinking her cage mates wouldn't mind the extra finch "nummies".
After giving everyone sufficient time to fill their little finch bellies, I turned out the lights and went to bed myself. Upon arising this morning I turned on the lights to check on everybody and found Miss Honey back in her "old" spot, enjoying her "breakfast".
I do believe I was faschnickered... Well played, Miss Honey... Well played.
