Heya.
Another pair of pretties for the collection. I seen some a while ago and I missed out on them, so, when I seen them today I had to grab them. They are the most placid finches, nothing worries them at all.
Yes yes yes, the new aviary is in the very near future..........did anyone hear me say NO MORE BIRDS???
Here are some pics of the pair.

Oh Mandie, don't do this to me!!! Too late, darn it! I want some.
They are absolutely lovely. I've been arguing with myself about these little guys for weeks, maybe months. I think they are beyond cute... BUT! They are so tiny, that it sort of scares me off. I can stand and watch them along with the orange cheeks and the golden breasts and the rest of their tiny brethern for what seems like forever, but I always walk away, telling myself, just too darn tiny.

Very pretty birds!
I accidentally acquired one of these (in a shipment of Black Rump/Red Eared Waxbills) and I'm debating whether I should find her a mate or a new home. I certainly wasn't intending to add another species to my collection but they sure are pretty!

This is a very easy waxbill species to keep. I had some, found eggs on the floor, but never had babies. I believe that is because I had them (3 pairs originally) in a large flight cage, and they never really settled down to breeding. Even though some of these species will breed in a community in the wild, I think they still need enough space to be comfortable with it. I gave the last remaining bird to a friend who also had a single. But they are another easy, inexpensive introduction to waxbills. Yours look great, Mands!

lovezebs chirpy and everyone else who commented.
I would buy more in a heart beat, they are awesome.
The are not so tiny, bigger than an orange breast, but sooooooo placid, when I was taking their photos they didn't care at all.
I'm really happy with them and sorry for upsetting people with my latest addition.

Mands I don't know how big oranges are lol I will have to look it up! Are they not as fly-high as zebras are? I assume they are not since the pictures are not out of focus or blurry ;)

Ginene Thanks

After all our work getting the new aviary and setting it up, now we have to start again and get another one !!
I am so addicted, I love them all so much, I cant say I have a favourite because when I try I say "Oh no but they are pretty awesome as well". But I can say the orange breasts are way up the top, and now the St Helenas are pretty kewl as well.

chirpy NO they are not as big as an orange !!! But are bigger than an orange breasted waxbill

(we call them orange here but others call them gold)
They are nowhere near as hyper as my Zebras who never ever sit still. They just sit sweetly on their perch and sing a really pretty song. Hubby thinks the red stripes on their eyes makes them look evil, but I think it makes them look like a super hero
I would recommend them to everyone
