I am super excited

Hubby bought me another aviary, the same as the one I got for Christmas, same as the photo below. I get it next week. Now I can buy a couple more pairs at the sale that is coming up soon. I want some blue faced parrots and some diamond firetails. I sent away for my licence last week as the diamonds need one.
It is going to be so much fun setting up another aviary. And guess what NO MORE AVIARIES OR BIRDS RIGHT - DO YOU HEAR ME - DO I HEAR MYSELF MMMMM I will try.

Nice choices! The aviary looks great too, and you'll have so much fun decking it out and getting it ready for the new inhabitants. Awesome, I'm excited for you!

Mands.
That's just beautiful. Oh how I wish. You lucky, lucky lady.
Why do you need a licence for the diamonds?
No more birds, eh???

lovezebs We need to have one in Australia for some reason. I have just applied but it will take about 3 weeks to be approved. I missed out on some others a while ago as I didn't have a license so I decided to get one for when I need it, probably at the sale.

I am really excited to be able to set up another aviary and fill it up again, also I am moving some of the ones I have in the aviary already to the new one. Just a couple more pairs and then NO MORE BIRDS for me

As soon as I saw this thread's heading, I started chuckling and thought "Mandie has a new aviary!"
I'm so so happy for you! Love every minute of it
I'm itching to extend my one aviary but with winter coming up, I've decided to "tough it out" until spring. It's hard though!!!

Just for info, like in Australia you need a permit/license for keeping indigenous birds, it's the same here in SA. I had my inspection done in January, so I'm now all legal to keep/breed/sell indigenous SA species. Getting them to breed successfully though, is a whole other story

Rox

You know me too well !!! I couldn't believe it when hubby came in and told me "Darl, I bought you another aviary" I was jumping around like a kid WOOP WOOP DANCE. We have already done our lists of who is going where and how we want to set it up.
We have put a cafe blind on the one we have now for the rain and wind and it works really well, so we will do the same for the new one, we are in Autumn here so a few rainy days here and there but mostly still nice.
Do you know I actually love doing my rounds in the morning of the cages and aviaries doing the feed and watering. We sit for hours watching and loving it. Now that all the kids are gone and in my old age (43 and going to be a nanna) I can spend all of my hours relaxing with the birdies.
I have learnt so much from everyone on this forum, and everyone is always kind and supportive I just love it. Thanks guys

That's great news! I know you'll enjoy keeping up with two aviaries!! Just think of all the extra cleaning that goes with all those lovely songs and colors! LOL. Just kidding. I get lots of flack from family about "Why do you keep so many finches?" or "That's too much work." etc. etc. etc.
I just chuckle and say, "You know how much joy I get from them. When you do something you love, it's not work."

Mands, I am so jealous! I would love to have an outdoor aviary, although my yard is a bit hilly or treed.

I'd be thinking, hmmmm, birds like trees how can I enclose a part of this area etc etc...
LOL.@finchmix22...@Mands
People ,(not just family) think I've all together lost it when I speak about how I enjoy taking care of my birdkids. 'But all the seeds and hulls and the feathers and the ocassional bird pooppy' ( where you least expect it.) I just give them an eagle glare, and say: I love it!

. It's my form of therapy in an unkind world.

Rox and Mands.
Thanks for clarifying the licence thing. I never knew that. Live and learn something new everyday.
