Okay, I did it...took the big leap! I read about Shirley and the Finch Farm so I looked over the site...and read...and wished...and read again...and did it...they are on their way...pair of Gold Breasted Waxbills and pair of Fire Finches....OMG...I can't wait!!!! It's like waiting for Santa at Christmas, it just won't get here fast enough! I've spoken to Shirley a few times now and she is everything everyone said about her. She was very informative about how this all takes place and how the birds arrive and she is such a fun character. The whole experience was great! Now I just need for my new babes to arrive happy and healthy and she will surely have a repeat customer. The prices were very good compared to the closest place to find these birds, Houston. I will surely be posting pictures as soon as I can! Can't wait!!!!!

Jen Congrats on the new birds. Both the Gold Breasts and the Fires are beautiful finches, a lovely song and their colours are amazing. SShh don't tell anyone I said this but my 2 pair of Gold Breasts are probably my favourite, they have so much character.

I wish you the best with you new family members, you sound like me when I am getting new birds, I turn into a little kid jumping up and down I AM SOOO EXCITED !!! Have fun with them.

Congrats Jen!!! My very first 10 finches (zebs & societies) came from finchfarm.com, but that was in 1/2013. I have NO CLUE how old your finches might be...I just wanted to say Congrats and enjoy!!!

I'm hoping someone who breeds fires can make a guess on his age. I keep walking up to the cage and just sitting and watching them! Love my bird addiction...I'll never give it up!

This is what one of my breeding males looks like. I would "guess" that you have a young bird. I don't know if Sheryl is selling captive born Senegals so this most likely is an imported bird. If so it would be hard to guess what age he might be. Could also be going through molt which would make it harder to guess age.

From what I read here somewhere, I do believe that your boy is young. Didn't someone here mention, that they don't come in to their full red colour unti after their first molt?
