I wanted to share a photo of my 'mostly' tame Zebra Finch that I have. He will sit on my finger and on my shoulder. When I go to the cage he is always the one who will come to the front and visit with me. :D

I love it when a finch will be this calm and accepting of its owner. It is definitely the exception, which makes it so special IMO. He is a cutie!

That's awesome! Out of hundreds of finches I only have one that is friendly, comes over to me to interact and lets me hold her. She's my 10 year old fawn. I take her out and hold her a long time and she never tries to get away. I took a lot of pictures tonight because I don't know how much time I have left with her. He really is cute! Enjoy him!

Very sweet little birds. My canary and Zebra finch will sit within 10cm of my face and talk to me but they're not THAT tame.

Aw, he's very handsome!

I've spent many hours making my guys human-friendly, but some are *much* more reluctant than others!
It's a rare few who are truly tame and actually enjoy and seek out interactions. It sounds like your guy is one of these!

What's his name?
Does he try to eat your hair? My shoulder sitter loves it because he nibbles at my hair or earrings!

Did you have him from a youngster or did you get him as an adult?
If you got him as an adult and he's this tame then that's incredible!
The youngsters are fairly easy, but the ones I've gotten as adults, I've found they're very difficult to get them to actually enjoy interaction. They mostly just tolerate it, I think.
The one truly tame adult I have became tame after she got sick. I had to handle her to give her medicine and so forth and it seems she totally overcame her fear and started to enjoy interaction!

I just started working with Squeepers today, in fact, teaching her to "step up" and she was getting it! (You put your finger up against their legs with the tiniest bit of pressure and it causes them to lift their feet and step up onto your finger). I'm determined to keep her tame! LOL

So cute!!! I've had my finches for a while and they still act like I'm going toe at them every time I come to the catch lol. I check the every day so you'd think they'd know I bring the fresh food.

Mia….His name is "Ollie" I got him as an adult from a bird buddy who didn't want him anymore. I was told that he was hand fed from a previous owner so that is why he is fairly tame. He had a brother "Odie" who died shortly after I got the pair. Odie was also hand fed but did not stay tame like his brother did for some reason.

While Ollie sits on my shoulder I can hear him making little sounds. He is a fun little fellow! :D

I love it! I wish my birds were that tame. My old lady finch won't sit on my finger but she will let me hold her have her head rubbed...will close her eyes and you can just see she loves it! :)
