New Birds - Gouldians
WOW Got some new birds today , met a gentleman in Miami today , major operations , we are talking 500 + gouldians . He breeds 90% gouldians also parrot finches , owls, stars. He uses societies as a foster parents. For the first time , I have seen a white gouldians, lots of blues and so many different mutations I can't even remember. Awesome !! Finally found a source . I was thinking there are no Gouldians and or at least I have not seen many at the birds markets and then this . I gues one just have to find a source. Got lucky today !!!
WOW !!! Sorry folks I did not take pics as a gentleman was kind enough to invite me to his house , to see and pick up what I wanted , so I did not even ask to take pics. Maybe next time. Here are my new birds.

Gorgeous!
I'm dying for another pair myself.
I'm not usually too keen on the yellows, but your pair is just gorgeous! I love the different shades of yellow.
Miami is a bird hub, it seems! So many wonderful finches in Miami. I may just have to make the drive one of these days.
Can I ask what did you pay for the pair?

Re: New Birds - Gouldians
To answer your questions , yes they are fostered , don't know if all but I have seen societies with stars, goulds and parrot f babies. As for what I paid for them , well with all the birds he has he has a shortage of females ( hens) In fact , he said 80% of all of all clutches from last year were males. So the birds I got from him are birds from his private section ( birds he selected to keep for breeding ) I simply gave him an offer he could not refuse. Just kidding , paid $ 80.00 a bird. Not so bad. Goulds at birds markets in Miami go for $ 60.00 a bird right now but only because there are not too many birds for sale around ( I'm talking Gouldians ) Again , he said, he sells most of his birds up north where I think he can get more money for them .

Re: New Birds - Gouldians
Yes I do have other Gouldians Green backs purple breasts red heads only .
I do not cross breed different mutations . I prefer red face birds so that is what I have. I'm not really interested in Blue backs ( but I did see some really nice looking birds yesterday , maybe they grow on me later but for now I only want red heads . I'm very particular when selecting birds often pay higher prices just to get what I want. Often people don't want to sell what I want so I usually give them an offer they can't refuse !!! I also refuse to use fosters. Birds should be able to raise their own young's. My birds live outdoors year round. They love sun . Most of the breeders I have seen keeps their goulds in Dark environment very little sunshine if any , only to breed them , I keep my birds for their beauty , and let me tell you gouldians are even more beautiful when seen outdoors in full sunlight !!!
