little ingrates,,,I buy them a cage 3x the size of the first one, put lots of natural branches, fake plants, etc,,,,,,in general, I make them a finch palace,,,,,
but I think they're mad because I took their nest out, emptied it out and scrubbed it well, rinsed it and let it dry before I put it back in there,,,,now they're not the least bit interested in the nest LOL.

They're probably having fun just exploring the new cage and stretching their wings a bit. Also, if the nest is all cleaned out and scrubbed it doesn't look like home yet.
Are you wanting to breed them? If not, that's a good thing. If you do, just give them nesting materials and time.

LOL Typical!
I've had the same thing happen.
I'd just give them some nesting material and they'll turn it back into "home" -- usually in fairly short order!
Also, I'd make sure the nest is in a similar position within the cage (e.g. if it was in the back upper right corner originally, I'd put it in the back upper right corner in this new cage.)
That should do the trick!

Oh, I'd also make sure that in the new cage, the perches are arranged so they have a straight path through the length of the cage. That way, they get the full benefit of being able to fly from one end to the other.
I'd ensure you keep the original small cage so you can use it as a sick cage or as a transport-to-the-vet cage.

I think I've got the cage set up that way,,,,,,,,,
there's a big empty space in the center,,,,,,,,the perches are at both ends,,,,,,,,
I don't think they like the nest since I cleaned it out though,,,,,,,,
Shirley won't go in there, he's nesting in the (half empty) hay ball currently,,,,,,,,,and Laverne looks lost,,,,,,,,he's trying to get in with Shirley, and Shirley is being mean,,,,,,,,,
not good
@dcompt they are both males, so no,,,,,,,,not breeding.

I saw white at Petco or something for 49.00
I got this one for 30 bucks,,,,I could not pass it up,,,she didn't have any white ones left, but for that price, I couldn't pass it up,,,at some point, I'd like to connect another one and have a double flight cage.

I have that one too, except with a divider.
I paid $29 for it on Amazon. I went to go get the link and they upped the price! Now it's $50.88. Bummer, as I wanted to get a couple additional!

I like that black. I have a couple white ones...and a cream colored one because it's older. I think they'll get used to the nest. Mind don't mind when I clean theirs out but maybe they're used to it. As a rule they don't like changes but then the check it...and say..."what the heck!" Hope they move back in for you. I think it looks great!

50.00 is the cheapest I could find and what I expected to pay, until I went to a local flea market,,,,,,there's a pet store in there that sells lots of stuff at really good prices (new, never used), ,,,,,they are only open on Saturdays and Sundays, though, so it's not all that convenient, but still,,,,,,for 30 bucks, it was worth waiting a few days for,,,,,,

You'll find you like the black bars better. White is distracting to the human eye and we focus on it more than the birds even though we don't realize it. You can test this out with your own hand. Put it behind black bars vs. white bars and see what's easier to see. You'll find your hand is much more visible in the black cage and the bars on the white cage draw your attention splitting your focus between the color and your hand. This is why many bird and poultry shows only use black wire. It's less distracting to the judges and guests.
