This thread is just horrendous, all these poor poor birds! What a horridly ignorant owner.

Hey Dylan...
I'm just seeing one little zebbie in an all too small cage. I think the other birds are stuffed (?). Obviously the kid (owner) should not have any birds (or any pets for that matter of fact) I hope Mom catches on to stupid kid removing food from cage before poor Frosty starves to death.

l skimmed through it, that person acquired 3 more finches (all put into that too-small cage), then later acquired a cockatiel, also placed in a too-small cage. Ignorant is right, they need to do some research before acquiring any pet.

10 birds in three tiny, filthy cages, and no clue why they keep dying! And the chickens too!
That backyard must look like a golf course with all the little birdies buried out there.
Poor things.
For those who didn't (couldn't) get through it, he had zebras, societies, orange weavers, and a java all living together.

OMG, I went back and read the rest of that topic, and I too wish I hadn't. How can people be so ignorant? They have killed multiple birds with their stupidity. The worst thing is that this is not a child. This is an adult male, married from his description, apparently living with Mommy, who keeps buying him 'pets'. God help us all!

Hi again, Dylan.
Sorry, didn't realize there was more than one page. Also didn't realize that this was an adult posting, had thought it was a child.
Anyway ... It just goes to show how ignorance can translate into cruelty.
Yes, those poor birds, as you had said. Sadly, that is the life that many pet birds endure, never knowing anything else. Do these people love their birds? They probably think they do, but....
What can I tell you? There are many horror stories out there concerning pets, many much worse than this.
All that we can do as pet guardians is ensure that our pet companions have the best lives that we can offer them and try and educate where we can with the hope that with education, things will improve for these poor creatures.

Yes, this guy had a poor Java, 4 or 5 zebras, an orange-cheeked waxbill, a weaver, and 2 societies spread between two of those tiny horrid finch cages that are like 9 inches wide and the zebras mauled one another and died horrible deaths and he just got more and more and none could fly in that tiny cage. He then bought the java a mate in the form of a white zebra. -_-

I just read the whole thread. I felt sick to my stomach reading it. It looked like there was 4 cages on top of eacchother, he doesn't deserve to keep all those finches. All the members are inexperienced so they couldn't Help him out. Too bad , maybe he learned his lesson and won't get any more finches!!!! I wish he joined this forum, we would have led him in the right direction . ;) :p

Ugh. So upsetting.

I'd feel uncomfortable putting one bird in a cage of that size as a sick cage! Never mind multiples.

Broke my heart to see the two zebras cuddled up in the nest on page 2, no nesting material, nothing. Just a dirty, hard nest with droppings.
And the gorgeous Java alone in a falling apart, disgusting nest.

Sadly, I can't tell you how common this is.

I've worked in rescue for over a decade now and SO many owners are just ignorant.
And it leaves me befuddled as in today's world, there are so many resources on the web -- all you need to do is look!

Like I said my friends, all we can do is try and educate people . Sadly however, a lot if these people think themselves to be good and loving owners and don't see any need to be educated.
More than likely this idiot will go on getting more birds and killing them off. Then he will go on to reproducing and raising his children to 'love' birds just like he 'loves' birds and the cycle will go on.
I hope our young friend Brian doesn't read this particular thread. Really isn't reading material for the young.

I don't think it is always a case of not knowing, as whatever happened to common sense? Some people are just plain cruel to animals. They should be reported to the authorities.
