Finally! I have Zebra Finches!!

Post by xdartfrogx » Tue Jul 08, 2014 2:58 pm

Ok, so long story short I raised zebras throughout my childhood/teen years. Life happened went to college and had to give it all up for a few years. Not sure how this happened, but I literally had no zebs for 10 years  Fast forward to now and a fiancee (who's been in my life for 13+ yrs) that isn't fond of birds in general, I finally got some Zebras again!!!! :D So here are my two new boys! I am so excited! I know they are both pied. I'm really curious to the extent of the 'grey' one. His cheeks are a dusky orange and he has a fawn tint to all his grey areas, cream underbelly, and white under beak. Wondering if he is carrying fawn or lightback in him. Oh, and he is crested. These two boys are getting along great. We are currently awaiting on fedex to deliver our new giant flight. Hopefully we will be all set up by the weekend. Any thoughts as to what to call the grey one? And, any suggestions as to what females (color/mutation) to pick for them? I have a couple things in mind, but I'd love some thoughts & opinions!

Oh they're cuties!

Grey looks like Albert and white looks like Sylvan.

But that's just by looks. Personality is a big factor in names, I've found. :-)

Very cute! Love how they are just chillin', hanging out :) I'm thinking about getting some Zebras myself. Are you enjoying yours?

Congrats on getting back into Zebbies! I have no idea about their mutations, but Cindy will. Post pics of their tails too...she can tell a lot from their tail bars :)

4Ellen, Yes I am greatly enjoying them! They are terribly adorable. I have missed having zebbies so much. They are a joy to have. I just love their songs. That is what made me love them so much as a child :) These boys are hysterical! They sit and groom eachother, have singing battles, and are all buddy-buddy. I am so glad they are enjoying eachother. Perfect outcome!

@Ginene, Through everyone's help, including Cindy, it is believed that the white one is just a white pied, and they grey crested is pied and either lightback or CFW. Now it just depends on getting them some girlfriends :)

Congratulations...the boy on the right is a pied, the boy on the left is Normal Gray Crested split to pied. He may be a lightback but he is not a visual CFW.
