I'm being forced to move because my apt manager thinks 9 finches are 8 finches to many to have in my apt. She said they might breed. That I also had to put up a $300.00 pet deposit.

Then she realy made me made when she said that I should have got a dog. That they made better pets. I have now put the word out to Ahab's Wild cousins to poop on her car.

The gaul of her to compare finches to dogs and cats.

Now I am a big dog lover, (I have three of my own) but I cannot believe that anyone would compare them to finches. Although finches require more work than dogs they cannot cause near the damage to property in my opinon. Sorry, but maybe this is for the best. Good luck in apartment hunting. I am glad you are not getting rid of the birds.

What does your rental/pet agreement state regarding birds?
I know there is a website that you can go to regarding tenant rights.
I can understand if you had a screaming parrot, but 9 finches don't make much noise.
I've only rented one apartment in my life, but I've never heard of problems having birds. How does your landlord know you have 9 finches?

I was thinking the same thing. I can understand deposits, because dogs and cats have accidents, or chew/shred things, and bird poop on the wall can't be passed off as just the latest painting trend, but finches don't make enough noise to be considered a nuisance, like a parrot. And if I rented, I probably would forget to mention just how
many birds I have.

As for how she found out people talk . I did ask before hand so, well i love my birds and told a few friends about them . Soon the whole complex knew. now we will be living in the country, and my new lease says I can Keep my birds. Shes a pet owner. now I have a place to build an aviary, the last renter had a horse.

Thats good news. and now your finches will have more space and privacy to themselves. i might build an aviary next summer to house all the finches i want to get.

the local spca has birds that need a home, some are wild birds the for one reason or another can't be released. That might be fun. I'll be looking into that. James
