Hello my bird loving friends.
-So I finally went to look at a couple of baby Parrot Finches today, to 'maybe' get a little boy for me, and a little girl for another Forum member.
The breeder visiting from out of town had several birds available.
2 Parrots, $60 each
3 Yellow Stars, $40 each
3 African Silver Bills, $40 each
4 Goulds, $80 each
1 Society, $10
10 Canaries, didn't ask price.
-Anyway, I have to admit that I haggled shamefully, or should I say shamelessly... The poor fellow finally threw his hands up in the air, grumbling about 'women', but I'd figured that he didn't want to have to drive 600 miles back home carrying these birds .

-So he boxed the two Parrots and the pretty little Society girl . I looked at the Stars, and he added a boy and a girl to the box for what we agreed on $170. I looked at the lone little Star left behind and asked if he would throw her in as well for $200 even. His hands went up in the air again, but to get rid if me, he agreed.
- So I came home with my baby Parrot boy, 3 lovely baby yellow Stars, and 1 pretty Society girl, all for $140.
In Pet Shop:
Parrot Finches: $160 each
Star Finches : $360+ for 3
Society : $30 each

That's a great deal...... Still would have been even if you had paid what he originally asked. Parrot finches go for way more than that here

-Roman Catholic actually, but born in a tiny troubled land in the Middle East, next to the Mediterranean Sea, that is rich in history, diversity and political turmoil. I believe it has had some Interesting citizens in the past... me of course, and then there was another fellow... what was his name now... hmmm? Oh yes, I think it was Jesus. LOL !!!

-It was a 'GREAT' deal to begin with, and I couldn't resist a little haggling.

-They all are lovely little birds.

Oh I know, the prices usually are through the roof.
His wife even suggested that I buy the rest of his birds and sell them myself for whatever I could get for them, but I wasn't interested, and have limited space as it is. The lady really didn't want to travel all that way home with the birds.
- Nice people. I told them to keep me in mind next time he comes to visit his daughter. He had five baby European Gold Finches at home. I'm drooling already.

I have to say again lovezebs you did a great job and did me big four in getting the RHPF girl for me! I hope I can return the favour?
Now to save some $$ for those European Goldfinch!

I hope little girl doing well. My guys are great. Eating like horses, taking baths. Decimating spray millet and cucumber. They are so so cute.
Please don't feel obligated in any way. That's what finch friends are for. I have to say, I'm kinda falling in love with the tiniest little Star. She is absolutely adorable.


PS. Yes, the European Golds.... I didn't even ask how much he wanted for them. Let's see if he decides to bring them over to Calgary. Said he does a pretty brisk business in Van, especially with the Chinese community

They really are beyond cute, especially the tiniest Star. Does't even fly perfectly as yet, and her bum fell into the bathtub yesterday. Poor baby with a wet bum.
