My male seems to have developed a wet irritation at his vent and trying to get to it, he is not constipated and does his stuff, BUT he seems wet and not comfortable at the rear, any suggestions?

What species is the bird? My first thought is coccidiosis, which is treated with Coccicare. Some say Ronex does not work with this protozoan, but I've used it succcessfully to treat finches in the past.

After running around, I found a doctor on the coast, he advised Protexin and Enrovet, so am treating the male now, we will see if the differences start showing soon.

Mechanical seem a lot better since this morning to now, he has a lot of build up at rear, but the bad body language of yesterday is gone, seems the antibod med's are working........ I decided NOT to catch him in the aviary as it may upset the female on the nest, so I am sure that stuff will fall off, I don't think he had a bath today, so...... I will wait another day to see how it works out.

You can give him warm bath water to help get off the gunk. It might be worth catching him since you said it looks really messy/dirty. That way he does not continue to spread it around, you know?

This morning I awoke, and after he came down for breakfast, he was all puffed up, looked bad, the rear totally full of $%^&*( and not good, some swelling also, I went into panic mode and get stressed fast...
I decided well I will try catch you, in the aviary I was just lucky it took about 30 seconds and I had him, I think he was not on full afterburners because he was not so well....
I had to be careful I don't squeeze to hard, he escaped once in the lounge but I got him easily as he cant fly well.
I cleaned him and used slight warm water. careful to only push on the junk and not his rear as he is so small, very hard to be stressed, and worry about killing him by accident.
He was still and I managed to clear it all, he has a small looks like a swelling at rear sort of a nipple effect at his bum below the vent. BUT now he is 100% active ( an hour after his shock) and he is eating, kaching kaching and beep beep again, he seems good now.
He makes poop easily and isnt blocked, the rear is now clean just bare.
I will still give him his antibo meds for the other 8 days.
BUT IT COULD NOT COME AT A WORSE TIME, tomorrow is the DUE DATE for the first to hatch from the 7 eggs.........
SO I pray he will be ok from now, I feel so guilty when I intrude in his space but I have no choice, he would be dead by this afternoon if I never helped him.

Thanks, I was so stressed, scared I would hold him to tight, he is so small. It is now a few hours later ---------- he is in good shape, and eating and back to normal. I hope that build is past. The doctor prescribed the two meds and it seems to work great. Protexin over his eggfood and .2ml Baytrail in his 100ml water for 10 days. As I write this he is beeping and kaching outside, so he seems to be recovering well, I started at 12 o clock past Saturday.... so its been 2 days and looking good.

Thanks guys, I have grown fond of cheeky Mechanical, he makes me laugh. So, a few hours later and he seems very good, swopping and nest sitting and shouting at the doves as per normal. Tuesday we should have the first of the chicks, my families second attempt..... and to think he may not be around to see his first chicks breaks my heart....... so POS I am!
