Ugly and uglier

Today my Seagreen Parrotfinch babies are 13 days old. When I looked 4 days ago, their eyes were still closed. Today, I saw that their eyes were open. I stuck my camera lens inside the nest and snapped a photo. They are really hideously ugly. Look just like little aliens. I will post another pic, if my luck hold out, and they survive to fledge.

Yes, there are four of them. The ladies on the forum are going to say that the chicks are pretty, but only a mother can think that. They should fledge by next month.

I wish I still had the photo of my greening macaw before he sprouted his first feathers. I had propped him up on his butt, and his crop was hanging down, and his mouth was open. He was about to sprout feathers so he had bumps all over. I entered, and won, the Ugly Baby Bird Contest with it.

monotwine Congrats back on you, since the hen was one of your babies and you being the great great great grandma. I am quite believe them being dinasaurs, especially parrot finches. At a certain stage of their develpment, when the parrot babies look at you they look just like velociraptors

Aw, I'm going to buck the trend.

I think they're cute!

@KarenB -- that's hilarious that you won the ugly bird contest! Hookbills are super awkward as babies! Especially with those dangly crops which remind me of a part of male anatomy. *snickers*

The cutest baby birds EVER? Owls!
Look at this face!

And this one!

Oh my goodness. The cuteness is unbearable!

I've volunteered at the CROW wildlife clinic on Sanibel and they had a bunch of baby owls. It was just so tempting to put one in my pocket! LOL

Except these guys....they're kinda strange....Sort of vulture-ish!

This guy cracks me up. Evil baby!

....Man, I need an owlery.

Some of the less attractive babies, IMO, have ginormous yellow beaks.
Robins are right up there:

Congrats!! The dinosaur reference is quite accurate, lol. I had never thought about them that way before and don't think I will look at chicks again the same way

MariusStegmann love velociraptor. As clever too.
So glad my babies are producing well for you and more importantly that you've given them a lovely home.
