I started trying out a photo box, I made it so the backgrounds are interchangeable. This is my first try with it, I am still looking, possibly ordering the branch that may work best in the box. Later we will build a larger one.

Good start. Maybe try a different color contrast between the branch and the background. Also perhaps less earthy colors and more sky blue or leafy green for pale colored birds? JMHO.

Great idea! That particular background would work very well with a blue coloured bird. If you had interchangeability for the background, you could have a complementary backdrop for any color of bird.

Agreed. Or a bright green/yellow colored bird. You get the idea, contrast :)

I have applied the backgrounds on poster board so they can be easily removed and interchangeable

Fooled around with a few props , drilled holes for perches to be screwed in different areas..... I will be ordering different mat backgrounds for each species based on origin and their mutations. (I will likely forgo the silks, they tend to land in them).

How I made my photo box.... I used Rubbermaid container, the top was cut out and a cage divider (may swap this out for a cage side with a sliding door for easier removal of the birds), the viewing holes are cut out of the front and one side...backdrops are held in place with Velcro for easy removal and changing them out. Holes are drilled so perches can be attached at various angles. Light is a daylight bulb in an aluminum light hood.

Any backgrounds pictures are attached to poster board, attached inside the box with Velcro. Plastic mesh is attached with velcro for easy removal when you are ready to take pictures, you can also keep the mesh in place and put the camera right up to it, the bars disappear. I will put newspaper or paper towels down on the bottom before each group of birds enter the box

What a fantastic idea! I love the more simple backdrop with the flowers, it really highlights the birds.

Please keep sharing as you change the backgrounds =D>
