Friend of my friend was looking for hand tame finches for her young daughter.. tame parakeet or Parrot are easy to find but finch.. so They asked me I have any chicks available. I usually don't breed Society, but I let them sit on it then got 3chicks. So I donated. They're 10-15 days old my friend start to hand feed.. she is a expert for hand feed Love bird & Cocktail. So far so good !! (Just 2days though..). I'm very excited for their new journey... And for young girl who thought she never gets tame finches !!

lovepoodle - How did the chicks do? I have read about hand tamed finches but it sounds time consuming.

Teagarden. That are going to their new home tomorrow. Took them 6weeks to eat themselves.. It was little long for society, I think because handfed ( formula).. After fledge, my friend was training them to fly to her when she feed them. Now they're flying to her every time open the cage !! It's a hard work (every 3 to 4 hour to feed)!! But not like a few days old chicks, they went to my friend for hand feed about they were 1 to 2 weeks old.

It's quite easy to get a finch to perch on your hand when they are that young. Fledglings are not wild and they won't be if you get them used to you at a young age. Hope your friend has good luck taming them
