Hi Folks.
I think I must have taken a wrong turn one day on my way to the Pet Shop...
I must have ended up at someones farm and came home with a chicken in finch clothing.
Cleaning one of my flights today, I decided to pull out an empty nest that no one has been using. It was just taking up space, so I pulled it.
Well, lo and behold...

There were a few others as well, but partially broken. Every one If them as empty as the heads of my Society girls. What do you make of this nonsense???

Te he he.
Love the empty heads line!

I've seen the same. Seems certain spots become egg depositories - a nice spot to lay and better than the food bowls or floor. But nobody ever incubates.
I think that's just how it happens sometimes. Their bodies naturally produce eggs, but they aren't in the mood to really roost. So they pick an unused nest and designate it as the egg depository.

I wonder if any of these eggs is fertile. It would make sense sneaking them into somebody else's nest, just in case somebody's roosting/feeding :)

How odd. I find a few in the artificial plants sometimes when I clean the flights. But usually all the eggs go where they belong. Now in my Society Sorority they do have a nest to lay in just to keep them out of the food dishes. But none of the girls really ever seems to go broody and want to actually incubate all the way.

BTW I believe roosting refers to what birds do at night when they sleep. Brooding is when a hen sets and incubates a clutch of eggs. :)

Good day.
Eggs all clear as can be. These are Socie eggs as far as I can tell, but then what do I know.

So is it like: Come here girlfriend, I'll show you where you can get rid if your eggs. I know a really good spot, tell everybody... (?)

Haahahaa...
It was just so wierd, this nest full of all these tiny eggs. My son (23) wanted to know if they were edible? I said 'sure', just dip them in chocolate. For some reason, don't know why, he didn't believe me.
