Today was a SAD day

Post by finchmix22 » Fri Oct 03, 2014 7:30 pm

Terra, my very first Green Singer hen, died in my hand today.
She was my most favorite of all my finches! She was hand tamed until I got busy with all the other species, but she always would come to the cage and look at me and talk to me with her little calls. Yesterday, she was fluffed up and I started medication. This morning, when I gave her the morning dose, she felt so thin and light, I realized she may not make it. Then, she started the death breathing and I knew that was it. She died in my hand with her eyes open because I was talking to her and trying to help her stay calm. I'm so sad! I still haven't gotten over Lil Bit's death in July and now I've lost another favorite bird. I love these finches, but I just get sooo sad when they die. Rest in Peace and Fly High and Free in Finch Heaven My Sweet Terra! I love you! [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

I'm so sorry Deborah. Losing a bird is always hard, especially when you care so much about them. At least she had the best life possible with an owner like yourself. I'm sure she's at peace

Deborah, so sorry for your loss. Having lost a favourite of mine this week as well, I feel your pain all too well. It is never easy :YMHUG:

I'm so sorry about this. It's so hard when they go. Even harder when it's a favorite.

Witnessing their passing makes it even harder; it's something that stays with you forever.

For me, I have so many animals and whenever I lose one, it's such an awful reminder that each and every one of them will leave me someday. It makes me even sadder (and it makes me want to convert to all tortoises, African Greys and Macaws...but then I'd worry about them outliving me, so I guess you can't win).

Fly free, lovely Terra.
