SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW....

Somewhere over the Rainbow, there is a special place; where the gentle winds dance through the tall green grasses... where the golden sun always smiles down from the blue skies above, and where the waters run clear and sweet over shining pebbles in giggling brooks...

This is the place where little birds go when they leave us.
This is where Biggy, Spike and Poky, and all their little brothers and sisters, now get to play and fly and sing, amongst gently swaying branches and the dappled shadows of trembling leaves.

Be happy my little ones.
You were wanted and you were loved.

:( omg this made me so sad inside to read, it's beautiful, but poor babies. I hope wherever they are it is somewhere so nice... hopefully my little Darwin is there too, finally able to fly/walk/move again.

Oh, so bitter sweet, sad and yet hopeful. I pray all my pets are in Pet Heaven running or flying free and happy in Paradise!

Oh this made me cry.

I hope my babies are there too. Somewhere beautiful and lovely. And happy.

My husband and I always tell our babies that they're part of our family tribe, which has a ridiculous made-up name that only he and I know. (It came about about 15 years ago when we were watching a show on so-called mediums who scam people. So we said, "well, let's make up a word that nobody else would know and if mediums are real, and one of us has passed along, then we'll tell them to repeat our secret word and we'll know that they're for real.")

Of course, that made-up word that we came up with is super random and catchy, so it became a term of endearment for the animals. (e.g. "You're such a cute [mystery word]")

So when one of our babies is dying, we always say, "Remember [mystery word]"
The idea being that our special tribe name would allow us to reconnect someday, over the rainbow.
It's a nice thought.

Didn't mean to make you cry, Colt.
We have all lost babies way before their time. I think it's nice to think of them in a safe and wonderful place, where they can enjoy that which was never theirs in this life time.

Goodbye my little darling .....

My little splay legged Canary Baby, left us last night.
I held his barely feathered crippled little body in my hands, and wished him to that special place, where my other sweethearts who have had to leave me too soon play and sing.

At least there, he can be perfect in every way ....

You were loved little one.

Hi Trisha.
Goodbyes are always hard, most especially to one who never really got to enjoy life at all.

Elana - so sorry for the loss of the birds and especially the crippled canary. I know you were very troubled about not being able to help him.

Thanks Jenny and Mary.

Yes, it's hard to lose our little ones.
With my baby Canary, although It was difficult to lose him, it was almost a blessing in another way. Poor little sweetie, had he survived, it would have been a cruel twist of nature. Not being able to walk or perch, always dragging himself around on his chest and belly, that is no life for a bird (or any creature for that matter of fact).

I'm glad he's free and whole, and in a better place.

Goodbye little canary :( We know when breeding that not all the chicks will make it and try as we might we try not to get attached. But i always end up loving all the babies.

I thought as you did, that while sad, this was in a way a merciful end.
