Well, 23rd was start of the mating thing, so....

Today, I have been providing the round cotton pads, he has been busy building today, he yesterday built his bottom liner and the needles came in nicely, today he has built his mattress and now we are ready. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Took a few of the inside of the box, his with a cotton pad and him peering through the breeding box hole from outside the rear vents, looks pretty neat! He has laid the mattress nicely on top of the needles.

So, now we wait............ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

Cool! I didn't know these things were good as nesting material. Do you cut them, or offer them as dumpli.... as is?
Don't chickies get tiny claws stuck in them?

BTW...If using these silly things were all that it took to make a 'lady'... there would be a lot of 'lady' clowns of the male persuation in the world :O) =))

I am just fooling with you 8)

YES I PUT them in the cage and they pick up and build, when he has put in enough I remove about 20 and he builds again

BUT they work well, and they love playing with the puffs.

Give them a try

My first chicks never had issues, the outside is quite solid, only the inside is soft, but as long as its not string I am happy, but makes good nest material.

The neat thing is they cover a vast area and they are light to carry, so I think that's why they like using them, I watch him through the back holes, he goes in all the time, laying them out and replacing the ones that have suddenly just vanished........

Makes neat soft cover

They really do make a cute couple :-).

If your young lady is molting, not the best time for her to be laying and raising a clutch. Both molting and raising a family, takes a lot of energy. Doing both at the same time, can deplete a lot of reserves, leaving your little girl open to illness, egg binding, or worse.

Be careful and good luck.
