It's been about two weeks, and I've just now had the heart to post. I came home and found my male gouldian hanging dead by his neck from the nest, strangled by a piece of my hair. I'd been in there about 3 days before to clean and change bedding, and all I can think is that a strand got left behind and he was trying to use it as nesting material for his hen. They had just started to pay attention to each other, as well. I'm absolutely heartbroken. He was so lively and beautiful, and his song was incredible.

I happened to catch my gouldian hen getting caught on some long strand of nesting material not long ago. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't happened upon it when I did. I got lucky.
