Shaiks! I did it again!

This morning I caught up some parrotfinches and the one got hurt by the net. I think it flew into the handle of the net. At first he could hardly move, now about 3 hours after the fact, he seems better. I will check again tonight before dark. If he is still not browsing and flying around, I will catch him and keep him in a cage under a light overnight. I normally only name my birds for the finchbreeders database and then it will be a descriptive name like LB RT Pied. The initials of the guy I got it from and a description of the bird. I renamed this one Selkie, because he drowned his previous hen.
When I caught some birds a couple of weeks ago, I managed to kill a red-eared waxbill in the same way.

Oh my goodness, such bad luck! I hope your little Parrot pulls through. So sorry about little Red Ear. Maybe time to get a different net, someting that will bring better luck, eh?
Good Luck.

Sorry Marius, I am not very good at catching birds, I was thinking today of perhaps setting traps for them so that none get injured.

Thx Elana and Steve. Steve, the trick of catching birds in a trap is to hunger them out and I don't like to do that, especially when there are chicks. With my new setup that I am still busy doing, there will be a walk-in area, before you open the door to the aviaries. The idea is to chase the birds from either aviaries into that small area and to catch them there with ease. Elana, yes the handle of the net is going to be cut off. I am also a bit surprised that you didn't get the connotation to the bird's name. I suppose Cecilia Dart-Thornton is not your cup of tea.

Am I missing out on a good author here????
I know about Selkies, from many different tales, that I have read in the past, but this particular lady's name does not ring a bell. Do tell, is she worth while looking up on my next trip to the Library?

Elana, she is a new world writer, an Aussie. She used Selkies in her one series as creatures that appear like horses. They sort of enchant a human, all to entice the person to ride them. When the person mounts the horse, a velcro type substance prevents the human from jumping off. The selkie promptly heads for the nearest water where it drowns the human. I stopped reading her books - too girly / too many emotions, I think if I can remember correctly. Rather look for David Weber's books.
