Hello Everyone
I was just wondering, is it safe to give my zebra finches lemon grass?
Thanks in advance!

I can't say for sure, but I'd like to find out too, as I just picked up a new lemon grass plant. I had a huge one last year, but lost it, and I've never tried feeding it to my birds. I'm thinking that since it is a culinary herb, without any drawbacks for humans, that it would be OK for our birds too. It will be interesting if anyone has done this.
I also want to offer a belated welcome to the forum! I've been off quite a bit lately, so I'm falling behind in welcoming newcomers. There's lots of good reading at
www.finchinfo.com, where there are many articles on nutrition and general finch care.

I just bought some for myself at the grocery store and then noticed the dog nibbling on it lol. So I was thinking of giving some of the trimmings to the birds and see if they'd care to nibble on it as well or use it for nesting material.
Thank you for your kind greeting and the link. I'll definitely check it out!

I have several bushes of lemongrass in my garden & I haven't offered them to my birds because of the pungent nature of the herb, as well as the sharp edges of the leaves. I'd be curious to see if there's been any experiment on this.
