Successfully fixed a cracked egg!

Hey there everyone, I just wanted to share this little story with you all. We had two little eggs in a nest that the parents were definitely incubating, so I took them out to candle. Sure enough there were two little growing babies inside, but unfortunately on one of the eggs I found a small crack. Knowing it probably wouldn't survive if I left it alone, I attempted a fix with elmers glue and tissue, and held my breath. Well guess what I found this morning? Two successfully hatched babies doing wonderfully! (And the fix happened many days ago.) I'm so excited that worked, and wanted to pass on the good news. :) Never give up on these little guys. <3

Congrats! I love hearing this kind of success story. Crystal has a whole article on how to repair eggs at the Finch Information Center, but I've never tried it. It certainly paid off in your case.

Wow, Elmers Glue, works wonders.... (didn't we all know that in Grade One?) CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations. I'd be so nervous to try fixing one. I'd be scared I'd break it worse. I've patched a chicken egg using clear nail polish and it hatched, but finch eggs are so much smaller.
