Crazy Parrot Finch Boy...

Well my friends, some time ago, I removed my 'sex maniac' Parrot Finch boy, out of the flight containing my three ladies, because he was driving them insane with his amorous pursuit.
I placed him into a flight, with Zebras and Societies, and things have been going well, until...
Now he's decided he's in love with a little Zebra girl, and is chasing her relentlessly, trilling his little heart out. She is running for dear life, and he's loving it (her not so much).
What do you folks make of that? I guess the heart knows what the heart wants, but really????

I'm not 1 bit surprised at cock parrot finches acting this way, they get very amorous when in breeding condition and will literally chase anything in feathers, sometimes it doesn't even matter whether it's a cock or hen their trying to mount, the're even known to try it on with quails. If the hen zebra starts laying you could always replace eggs with dummy eggs or some other species to be fostered, it would keep his mind off other things for a few weeks while he incubates/rears chicks.

I don't think 'love' comes into the equation with this guy, lol. He is a wild man in the throes of lust

Quails..... ? Too funny!
'If my Zebra starts laying eggs....' Yikes!
They can't actually have children, can they?

Parrot finches are serious about making a family. The only thing that calms them down is a nest full of babies and possibly a competitor to distract them from the females, but the hens then get nailed by two amorous males.

I wonder what kind of a look my Vet would give me, if I asked him to castrate our boy

.
When I had him with the girls, he drove them nuts, to the point where I thought I might lose two of them, but no eggs, or kids to show for all the wild behavior. I honestly think our boy is shooting blanks, because he should have been awarded E for effort.
This Zebra infatuation though is hilarious.

As of yesterday afternoon, our lad decided that there is enough of him to go around. He's now chasing several Zebra girls.....
Like you, I have no idea if they can breed and produce young. Might be interesting. However they don't have any nests available to them, and so...

can you imagine just. Don't even know if the chop will help rtpf. They like little dogs that can let go of the leg.

He was giving my male Shaft Tail the 'once over' look yesterday. The look he got back though, was not welcoming (it actually looked for a bit, like he might get the 'chop' without the benefit of a Vet), so he went back to the Zebra girls. Funny, he's not showing any interest in the Society girls.... so far.
