Finding deals on finch stuff

My new birdies deserve nice cages but if one is suddenly outfitting several cages, it can get expensive. I found a few deals, and want to share and I hope you will share too.

On the way to a luncheon today, I stopped for 5 minutes at a Sand Dollar resale store, looking for and finding strands of artificial ivy silk plants. I wanted to find plants that did not have any support wires so if I washed them there would not be oxidation which might nor be good for the finches. I found some, and the stems are plastic, and no frayed leaves. Yay!!!

Two of the cages I got for the new finches were Petco specials, and the new HQ flight was from the Amazon Warehouse. In case you are not familiar with it, the Warehouse is where Amazon sends stuff that isn't perfect, sometimes it is only the packaging that is not good but in the description, they tell you exactly what the issue is. I think over $35 or so and you get free shipping, and for almost everything if it isn't properly described or doesn't work you can return it for a refund. Sometimes there are substantial discounts, I've gotten several good deals on bird cages over the years, and I got a great deal on the HQ cage.

The thing is, you have to be ready to buy, they mark them down and the great deals are snapped up. There was a Prevue flight cage for very cheap. when I looked that afternoon it was gone.
Just type Amazon Warehouse into your search engine, and when it comes up, type bird cage or finch accessory or whatever you are looking for into the warehouse search.

Where have you found good deals on finch stuff?

I usually find all sorts of things in different $+ Stores, like plants, vines, dishes, containers, even wooden bird houses, that can on occasion be used as nesting boxes (if big enough).

I also pick up all sorts of things in garage , yard, and estate sales. I've picked up small cages (for like $5), to be used as hospital cages, larger cages, for $15-30. Artificial plants (that can be had for next to nothing) which I wash in a bleach solution. Little shelves, which my guys have used to build nests in. All sorts of little saucers and containers, that always come in handy. Also second hand stores, for all sorts of goodies, that can be washed/sterilized and reused.

Thanks for the Amazon Warehouse idea, I will definitely check it out.

I often buy at the bird shows where you can find cages cheaper and some things can't even be bought in pet stores. They also sell dragonwood branches that can be made into perches of different sizes. If you have a lot of birds, seed can be bought in large quantities, along with oyster shell and mineral grit.
