Life Without Zebras

After I got rid of my 2 male Zebras a few weeks ago....it seemed my 2 Owls and 2 Gouldians didn't know what to do with themselves...for about a week they just sort of sat around looking 'lost'.

But now they seem to be in a more active routine and finding their own entertainment. I suspect the Zebras initiated most of the activity in the cage to keep everybody moving but now without them things are much calmer.

I really miss my Zebras and their cute antics. If I would have had extra cage room for them I would have kept them. But now at least they are not bachelors anymore...their new owner found them some girlfriends so I am sure they are happy campers! \:D/ :mrgreen:

I hope you aren't going to get anymore FH!
Today I went to the local mom and pop pet store. The most active cage had 6 zebras. One of the hens decided to attack all her cage mates.
Although I enjoyed them as a kid, I'm glad I don't have them anymore.

Gouldians are more calm and peaceful...sitting on a perch allowing people to just admire their beauty. They don't need no stinkin' cute antics to make people want to buy them! :lol:

Well I agree with you FH. I did enjoy my zebras when I had one pair in a cage. They were quite entertaining and comical. But as far as mixing them with other birds..... it doesn't work. BUT I think they are as deserving as any other finch to have a great home. Just not mine. :lol:

I started with a pair of zebras and it went to 50 zebras back down to 16 zebras. I will eventually rehome them all and just keep a black cheek pair. Right now i am more focused on my goulds, bronze wings, societies, and stars. They have all started to build nest and my societies just laid a 2nd egg today. Hopefully this time they will not get distracted and will incubate the eggs till they hatch.
