Hello Finching Fellowship.
Well, my sweetie Owls, have taken to sleeping in a wee little Canary nest, which they've padded and arranged nicely to their liking.
They will occasionally sit in there at the daytime, but as soon as anyone walks by, they fit and fly out of there, so I haven't been able to capture a picture.
Well tonight I got sneaky, and snapped a few pictures after lights out. Using my phone in one hand, and a small flashlight in the other hand, I managed to get a couple of snap shots.

Cute, cute!!! My pair of owls are the nest builders of my aviary. They build perfectly made nest and then someone else in the aviary moves in! (my owls are both males) My Gold Breast are living in one now. It's like the owls are the apartment builders and then they "rent" the nest out to new occupants!

I wonder how much they charge for rent (?) One, or two meal worms?

I was waiting to see that nest! The are quite the little builders! The owl faces peeking out is adorable! Have you seen any mating rituals yet?

Seeing as I really don't know much about Owls, I couldn't say. I know that one of them, sings to the other, but that could just be showing off for all I know. They do cuddle and snuggle together, but there again, it could be just two friendly boys.....
We shall see

I haven't seen threads with owl babies yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!! I would love to learn more about those little guys.
Outside of the societies and the gouldians, those would be my pick if I ever wanted a 3rd species. They seem very gentle.

They are really cute, and so far peaceful. However these two are fairly nervous. Now I'm not sure, if this is a trait of the species, or just these two characters.
Have I mentioned how cute they are ????

Sadly I think, they've just thrown together a sleeping nest from what I can tell.
They add bits and pieces here and there, but basically, it's still a canary nest with a bit of padding (to make it comfortable

).

Whoe! Thats quite a hide-a-way! They must have spent days on that! That's some serious birdie effort. Bet it was a blast watching them put that treehouse together.

They get along great with my Waxbills.
I think you should put a bug in Bubba's ear, to keep his eyes open for some owl...... better make sure you mention that you mean Owl 'Finches', lol.

That's an idea, after breeding season is over for Bri & Audy and I can open up the double flight cage again. The juveniles are going into the other side after they are weaned.
Would they get along with 7 crazy male societies in a 5 ft long x 33 in tall x 18 inch deep flight cage?
Oh lawdy you're right, I dont want Bubba busting in here proudly presenting me with an angry barn owl
