Squeaky and Whitey

Post by zebsoc » Sat Mar 26, 2016 12:10 am

I noticed what may be a bit o f a bald spot under Whitey neck below his beak.
(Poor eyesight, can't be sure)

If I see obvious plucking by Squeaky, can Squeaky and Whitey be kept in separate cages by themselves or is that to stressful for their species?

I really wish to have zebra finches - and I like Squeaky despite all her squaking and aggressivness.
I do NOT want babies, esp not by Squeaky tho.

If I were to get a pair of Young female Sister zebras, would they get along, long term, with Female Society finches (no males)? Or would they become aggressive with the society like Squeaky did when the weather warmed?

Please see my first post under New Hobby for Squeaky history

If I added a female canary with 4 society females and Squeaky would that confuse and diversify Squeaky's aggression enough to make it work out long term and year round? All in one cage?
That is my goal. 1 happy cage. No birds by self.

Before I added Squeaky to their cage for the winter when her mate died , the society finches did a lot of just sitting around like 4 ducks in a row. Squeaky did liven things up with her flying around and chirping/squawking.
The birds all are cheerful, but esp Squeaky because she is so full of life, and trouble.

zebsoc They would get along probably , but not housed together .
The rule is that you can house one pair , three pairs , five pairs ,six seven eight pairs and so on.
If you have 2 or 4 pairs they will probably fight pair vs pair.
But keeping them in separate cages will probably be safe , in rare cases a male and a female will fight
