A flock of Societies?

So the situation between George, aka "the bully", and Jack has gotten a bit better but not entirely. I realized that I had become a bit lazy as their keeper and didn't offer them as many new foods and things in their cage as before. This morning, they tried some cooked peas and green beans. The jury is still out but at least they were at a dish many times. They have a toilet paper roll stuffed of small paper towel shreds which is helping.

Getting to the flock of Societies. There is a bird rescue about 2 hrs away from me that is trying to find a home for a flock of 12 Societies. The foster Mom has been taking care of them since April 11, telling me they all get along, are healthy, sweet, and I could meet them after I take the Rescue's bird care class. I was thinking about buying 2 male Societies to live with George & Jack in their cage but instead of doing that, do you think I should adopt the flock and integrate George & Jack into that group? George will be outnumbered and maybe the bullying would stop? I would definitely buy a new large flight cage since my Petco flight is too small for 14.

It's pretty unlikely there'd be any arguing in that large a group, but they'd need a very big cage. If you can afford it, go for it! I had a free flight room for a few years and had about 20 socies in there for a while. They really enjoy being in a flock.

I have the room for a very large cage and can afford their care. Any recommendations on which cage to buy? Measurements I should take into account?

This is NOT the bunch to ask, "should I get more birds"! Hands down, the answer will be yes, yes, yes! (unless U stuff them in a small cage) then they would be on you like white on rice!

I don't know the answer to your bully problem, but I wouldn't let it get 2 crazy. I know that it will worry you nutz. I have a cage with 6 finches. My 2 societies do like to stay vry bzy! Today they are working on some corn on the cob, bok choy, & millet. Also tkn a bath. I hung a feathery pom pom that the societies love to pick on. They also work on a little chain. There is a neat hay feeder wire ball that you can stuff and let them pick it out. Just all ends up on the floor of the cage but, oh well. Good luck! That little stinker may have to be in time out.
