I have 3 budgies- believe me they are very loud! I find my 2 cockatiels to be much quieter but then maybe that is because they are old.
What about canaries? The male canaries have a loud song but females are not as loud. I have never had a society finch or Java sparrow but they sound like great birds so maybe you could go with them instead.
I agree that zebra finches do fight- I have to keep all my pairs seperated.

Haha I really think you should invest in them if you get a nice pair then they are great and have a noce dance and song with each male having a different one

Fraza I am actually wanting to get society's and plan on getting them this year. Hopefully I can find some! I know our pet shop does breed them but I've never seen them for sale yet.
