What does the metal band EOA MEAN

Hi I noticed my grammas finch has a purple metal band with EOA WROTTEN IN IT AND A SIDES WORDS SORT OF 8 I’ll add a picture of what I’ve drew

I tried to look it up everywhere, but come up with nothing.

It may mean the initials of the breeder, but hard to say.

Yea I’m just interested and want to know what the rings mean that one I told you about on the other thread with pealing beak post his ring says B.B. 34709

As far as I know, the codes on the rings vary from breeder to breeder, and I'm told they're just used to identify the sex and parentage of the birds. Some people add their year and month of birth on there too. Sometimes it's just 01, 02, 03, etc.

My zebra finch, Weeb's band says FI.N.10 9 and it means
FI (born in finland)
N (naaras is female in Finnish language, uros is male)
10 (born in 2010)
9 (From group 9)

I only found this out by asking the bird breeders.

MisterGribs Ohright okay I was just asking because I got one bird from a show breeder and he has a metal band but blue then I noticed this purple on on here and it was different so though it was when they come from shows

It's nothing to do with the British bird council as there rings are completely different, I'm a member of the council for over 35 years and their rings specifically have code numbers and the letters BBC engraved into the rings, exactly the same as the IOA rings " International Orthinological Association "

However I'm very sure that this ring pictured is an old ring that has been put onto the bird just purely for ID purposes,

The ring in question I believe could well be from the European Orthinological Association which sadly no longer exists

Fraza Yep! They are different from breeder to breeder. I have my own too, but haven't bought the little device that adds on numbes and letters yet.
