Vancouver WA Show

Home from the Vancouver Washington Bird show, and everyone is finally settled enough to post some pictures. Did OK at the show this year. Entered 21 Birds, got lots of firsts and a few seconds in Classes, a first and a third in Section, and 2 on Top Bench overall, 6th and 10th. Both Gouldians.

I do love Armando. This is the second show I've been at where he is the judge. First show was alot smaller, and he was able to elaborate a lot more on each bird. Although, other judges I've seen are also informative too. I love watching the judging, because I learn so much.

I see you breed BH Goulds. I picked up some nice ones at the show, to try to improve my gouldians size. Seems my birds are small, and need to be beefed up. All the BIG birds I see seem to be Black Heads.

Hi Lori,

I find it odd how there is such a size difference between some lines of Gouldians. However I have not noticed that the colour mutations have a great deal to do with it. My biggest boy, is a RH PC GB, and he throws lovely big babies.

I'd say that it's definitely the way to go if yer looking for bigger Gouldians, yes the bigger birds do seem to come from the black headed birds, I mainly try to just concentrate on the normals as aposed to any mutations although I do very much like the black headed blue backs,

To get the correct geno type aswell as good colour and quality feathering I do use yellow head normals paired back to me black headed normals.

To learn more about judging yer can't beet being a steward for the judges, at most of me club shows that I attend the majority of the time I'll be stewarding,
