Hey guys it's me Nick again. Remember how I said I was going to get my lonely male a female? Well I went to the pet store today and got what I hope is a her. However the pet store has a deal going on where if you buy 2 birds then they are less expensive. So I got 2 new birds. I got my male his hopeful bride but I also got my first ever society Finch. I will try to attach a picture of them below. They are both so cute and I got them both for just $40. What do you guys think based off of the pictures? Any name suggestions? Zebra is kinda orange and the society is dark brown and white.

Yes it looks like a male. But I need a closer up pic to say for sure. FinchLover&Breeder here is how you tell male and female zebra finches apart. With most mutations the males have cheek patches, barring, and flank spots wheras the females are plain and lack all these markings. Another way to tell them apart is by beak Color- males have more redish beaks wheras females have more orange beaks. Lastly, males sing (only the male sings) and females lay eggs.

Yes I did want a girl. I was hoping the zebra was a female. Now what?
And yes I finally got a society. No clue how to tell the gender though. So how would a male and female society do while breeding with other birds?

FinchLover&Breeder I’ve been able to breed all my society’s mixed with any birds because I make sure I put them with a passive species or not bully ones, one time it didn’t work with a zebra pair because they was bullies so I swapped them with a zebra pair and they where both fine together the females of each pair actually cane quite close

Then another time I had the society who was bullying a zebra female so I had to change them but apart from this the other times have been good so I think you will do fine, the society’s will stay out the way in most cases but won’t allow them selves to get bullied so all in all go for it

Haven't put them together yet. Whatever the mutation as long as the zebra is a female then yeah. If wendyrun responds then I'll have a definite female and a possible female for my male. Some interesting mutations and colors might come out if I ever let them breed.
