Can i keep the following together?; gouldian finches, one cordon bleu finch, a pair of whyhah finches, society finches, owl finches, and maybe java sparrows

Apparently whyhahs shouldn't housed with gouldians. Gouldians and societies are meant to be fine tho according to the chart.. Javas "can" be aggressive so just depends. Not sure about owls or cordon blues. lovezebs and Babs will know more about finch compatibility than I do.

I guess it also depends on cage size. How big is your cage?

Don't put whydahs with those, they're too boisterous and love to dive bomb other birds off the perches.
You'll probably never find a female whydah either.
They all come out of the wild, and mainly only males are caught, females are plain and not usually worth importing for the bird dealers.

Are they not bred in captivity ??

They are nest parasites which rely on one species of waxbill to foster their eggs. They don't build their own nest or feed their own chicks at all and are only stimulated to breed by colonies of nesting waxbills. Because waxbills are themselves not super easy to rear, let alone multiple pairs nesting at once, and because the whydah is such an aggressive bird that it cannot be kept safely with waxbills except in very large aviary enclosures I don't think there are more than a couple reports of successful captive breeding. Virtually every whydah in the pet trade was netted in the wild.

I would build the cage. I was wondering if maybe ya'll could recommend a cage size for them

6 foot wide and tall is the minimum I'd go for and still wouldnt put whydahs in there.
And keep a pair of cordons, not just one.

A single pair may be better, as male cordon bleus are occasionally aggressive toward each other; however, that's a single pair of finches, not a single finch. Most species of finches are social and should have a mate.

Oh i must of heard wrong , i dont plan on breeding so are you sure there wont be any hostility between the two cordons, i want to be sure (promise this is the last question on this thread lol xD)
