53 FINCHES DEAD

So today at the auction I saw one of my buddie who I got some society’s and my large zebras off and I haven’t seen him in a while but he told me the worst news

He woke up from work to find all his 53 finches dead all of them in one night not eaten just killed he had a variety of loads of finches and some rare red factor canaries he saved for he was almost in tears telling me, it must have been some ferret or stoat, it even got inside the nests and killed the chicks.

I was gutted for him so make sure that that u have no gap in between the outdoor part connecting to indoor because that’s where they squeeezes through the wood and it’s only thin.

Am just so gutted because I’ve been to his aviary and it’s reslly nice and he had loads of nice birds

Flight Feathers I know he said he could hardly manage to pick them all up he has Christmas trees in there aswell and it got into them and killed them so he had to rummage through to find the dead bodies.
I could not have coped I’m telling u I hate it picking up a dead finch never mind that many

He ended up buying his first new birds today a couple canarys 3 I think and then two finches

oh nooo! Any hunt for toxins? I tracked my first adult finches deaths to a room ionizer thanks to debbie276 and lovezebs research.

I have had no other incidents since then. Tell him to to come aboard. Something caused that. And it's oftentimes within the home, and it may impact the health of the owners as well as the birds.

Fraza How awful! That is one of the nightmares of any bird owner. Hope he can figure out what happened and correct the aviary.

I had to reread your post about a "ferret or weasel"? If it didnt eat any of them, it sounds more like domestic cat. So sad.

Babs yeh because he knew it wasn’t a rat or anything like that because there is no dropping and he did some research and found that these can do it like tiny weasel things and they squeeze through gaps in walls and between his wooden aviary and wall indoor but there was a gap around the connecting part, he’s now cemented over all the gaps when a few of my birds breed am going to give him one out of each clutch
