Strange behaviour off birds

Post by Fraza » Wed Feb 21, 2018 9:59 am

So today I was putting rings on my birds getting orepared for breeding time in few weeks and for some strange reason the birds started sitting in my hands and letting me put the ring on at first I though it was a consisdence when the star did it so I didn’t take a photo but then two societys did it aswell the white one let me stroke her I’m really shocked could it be sunlight it’s the first day in weeks and weeks we’ve had sunshine through the aviary

Just so weird how they sat on me and didn’t want to come off rather that or they was just being lazy because they even let me catch them without the net

Maybe they are getting to know me better #-o

The only time a bird (finch) has been still on my hand was if it was sick. I'm sure you have eliminated that. Is that an outdoor aviary? Could they have had a "visitor" come by and scare them?

aphily8ed no these are the ones from my breeding cages that are in the inside of the aviary I’m thinking it may be because they’ve never had a ring on before and when I’ve stuck on on them they have frozen like what the hell is that hahahah

Also thinking this because of the way the hybrid one in the first photo is laying down flat and now standing up straight  confusing but ohwell atleast I had a lucky moment

Nice to meet you as well. I'm new to the forum but not to finches. Use to raise many years ago and now that I'm retired I hope to again.

That's great! The only times my birds tolerate me is when they're sick, or hand reared.
2 black cheek zebras and 5 CFW zebras, one A&M pied coturnix hen, my darling cream/lavender coturnix roo, and his attitude.
