I completely forgot to post on here about the NFSS 2017 Census. This is open to all finch/softbill/dove/quail owners and/or breeders in the United States and Canada. You do not have to be a member of NFSS, you just have to live in the United States or Canada. There is no cost to participate, and you can enter your counts anonymously if you prefer.
What we are looking for is a count by species of what birds you had at the end of 2017. I know it is late, but just do the best you can. These can be birds you bred or birds you bought, but only what you had at the end of the year. This helps the organization see what the trend is in the hobby, and it also alerts us to those species that are becoming rare in captivity in the U.S. and Canada.
It is easy to fill out the forms, doesn't take long at all. You do not have to list birds by mutation. For example, with Societies, we only want to know how many total Societies you had at the end of the year, it doesn't matter which mutations.
Here is a link to the forms to enter your data for the census:

A little history:
The National Finch and Softbill Society established the FinchSave program in 1988. Although, thru the years, the program requirements have changed, the definition and purpose of the program have not. The long-term goal of the Finch and Softbill Save program is to establish a consortium of breeders of finches and softbills dedicated to producing and maintaining a viable captive-bred population of finches and softbills in the United States and Canada. The short-term goal of the program is to establish consistent breeding success with participating species in the United States and Canada.
