Haha. Do Zebs and bengalese breed fine in the same aviary or do the Zebs get annoyed when the bengalese go in their nests? I know that one of my zebra finch hens is quite aggressive and her sister is even worse! Luckily her sister along with its mate are going to a new home soon. -she was attacking my baby Zebs for no reason.

Also how normal is it for Zebs to kill each other? (Sorry this is a bit off topic)

Flight Feathers

Well mine get along fine however I only have one pair of zebs maximum as they are to agressive then one pair inside and then one in the breeding cage

With the society’s going into the nest to feed chicks they usually quickly throw them out

And I’ve never had a zebra kill another but I have a suspicion one killed a star and a hevk

Zebs are too agressive to keep with more passive species like societies. I would separate them.

What if the Zebs arent aggressive? Not all Zebs are aggressive, and they’re not usually aggressive if they don’t have a nest.

Flight Feathers yeh without a nest they aren’t but for some reason it just seems to be in their nature to start on other birds, try to bully/Harras them

But my B.B. is actually really passive around the other she picks a nest out the way and doesn’t fight

Yeah my fawn hen is really good with other finches too. She’s always been a nice bird and she’s such a great breeding one! Her babies are so lucky to have her as their mother!

It’s interesting how different birds have different personalities.

My fawn hen can only have so many clutches before she has to have a break tho and she’s already had like 7 clutches. 2 of which were killed by mice just before they hatched. I try to pace out her clutches but she just loves raising babies lol.

Also how long do bengalese lay eggs after they start nest building? My males have been full on nest building for 1-2 days so I’m wondering how long till the female lays? I can’t actually check the nest because of where it is but I should be able to tell when they’re sittting.
