That is interesting, Rue. I never thought of canaries as the original transistor radios, ha.

No! I didn't either! :D But if people did take their birds around with them...betcha the birds didn't have such a bad time of it...always something new to look at!

Thanks Kenny...that'll keep me busy for a long time!

Ah, I thought they might be Borders. Very nice, I love their coloring.

hi tammie
these are the parents with the feathering being like it is you have to be careful that you dont end up with feather duster type birds...so you have to pair one yellow and one buff so it equals the feather texture out

Hi,
I saw some canaries at a local small pet store that were not sexed, many different colours (yellows and oranges, etc, not on one bird of course) and $49.99 each (no promises for singing). The shop girl said she'd heard some singing but doesn't know which one it was.
Ok, so, does breeding canaries make sense for a pip (I know it says I am a hatchling now, but that is being way generous!!) and can canaries live happily together, with zebras and societies (I haven't bought any societies yet, cage not finished)?

hi hoji
does this answer your question about canaries living happily alongside finches...this canary is nesting in the seed hopper base

Hi Ken, I'm curious, do you have more than one breeding pair of canaries in your aviary?

My two hens get along with all the other finches, but sometimes have little squabbles with each other.
