Agree that average income per person is less, but still as I am seeing the prices of some birds, they seem too expensive outside India. When you get an iPhone for $99 in US how fair it is to pay $125 or more for a pair of birds?? This is what I felt

It's all a question of supply and demand, I guess.

That's the sad part of finch keeping, there's always people out there how just want to make a quick buck, and even if it's just selling a bird overpriced to somebody who has no clue.

Converted to US dollar: 81,43 or to EUR: 63,72. A PAIR. In a expansive place. you can find for R$100,00 a pair.
Just to share, cuz there is not much Brasilians here, think...

My most recent purchase -
Sweden
Zebra finch
Store
295 SEK (43 US dollars)
They charge a more for "fancy" colours (this hen being one of them - fawn pied) while a regular grey would be a bit less. While this is pricier than many listings here, I don't think it's too bad as I fear a very low store price would increase the risk of people make impulse buys without proper interest or knowledge. Selling breeder to breeder or similar would be a bit different, though. I only buy birds from this particular store (don't know any nearby breeders I'm afraid), they are a bit pricey but friendly and knowledgeable so I don't mind supporting them by buying from them

Hi,
Just wondering, I have just recently brought a Gouldian cock. They only had the one and wanted to get a female. Anyone know of any stores in the South East of England that are reputable??
I know you will only provide info on decent breeders or shops on here so I thought I would ask here first as I wouldnt trust anyone else.
Thank you . Tania
Two beautiful Zebra Finches and three chicks, One female cheeky Senagal Parrot, Two lively rabbits and until recently a beautiful Blue ringnecked Parakeet

There are several finch breeder from the UK, but I don't know how close they are to your location. Look at the avatar/signatures and see who is close by your area. They'll know best, if they don't have some themselves.

My next door neighbors are from Brazil. What type of finches can you find there? Should I ask them to bring back some from their next trip to Brasil?

I guess overseas, not U.S., can be more expensive. Most zebras here go for 5-15 U.S. dollars, even mutations. Huh, what a difference. I guess it is the traditional "supply and demand" issues.
