Like so many people, I am looking to find breeding pairs of Strawberry Finches along with partners so that we can work to build up this breed. They have always been my favorite finch and I am dismayed to find them so scarce.

If there is anyone else who is working on this, I would love to talk to you.

Also, if anyone has any sources for Strawberry Finches, I would be grateful if you would share.

I'm a new user and just saw this topic. I am very interested in finding a source for Strawberry finches - they are definitely one of my favorites! I've been on the the singingwingsaviary waiting list for a pair but so are a bunch of other people!
If anyone knows of another source, please let me know.
And I would like to work with anyone else interested in breeding this delightful species!

I hope you can find a pair! - But to be honest, most keepers of them dont sell them or let them go

if any one knows of a hen or pair of strawberries....PLEASE let me know...we have a male....and this finch is for sure my favorite....i LOVE the song....my male sings to me every morning and night.....i would have a house full if i could only find a hen...VERY SERIOUS about this....please contact us asap.....

There was a recent huge import shipment of Strawberries, so quite a few places will have them right now. They have sold out at some vendors, but www.birdproduct.com is advertising them for $130 each right now. A pet shop in Houston received some, so check pet shops in your area.

How did your breeding season go?

It didn't, but that was mostly in part to my not doing anything. I have set up 8 pairs of youngsters from last year, so hopefully this year will not be a total loss. I will be posting a journal of the breeding progress of one pair here: http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26870

I bought a pair that will arrive next week. I'm new to finches but have been reading everything and have their breeding cage ready to go.

how do you all recommend shipping birds? what method? for example from AZ to NC?

Sally~ do you recommend keeping Society finches in the same cage with Berries for breeding purposes?

I have only had mine shipped airline, but then I am either ordering a quantity or sharing shipping expenses with a friend. I did ship a single Strawberry USPS several years ago, along with a pair of Owls, from TX to northern CA. They took almost 48 hours to arrive, but they were in fine shape.

I can't advise on sharing a breeding cage, as I have only set my Strawberries up with one pair to a breeding cage. The Societies might interfere too much, they can be bad about taking over.
