I have a forbes parrot finch that has developed a neurological disorder. She has had balance issues for about 9 months now. She has been doing OK in one of my 5 foot flight cages, but I think she may do better with a smaller cage and possibly with another special needs bird (of which I do not have). If anyone is interested, please let me know. If not, I will make accommodations as needed.

Good Luck on finding her a home!

If I lived closer I would take her.

Have you tried supplementing her with extra vitamins? I've had chicks get some sort of balance thing and it ended up being a vitamin deficiency.

What kind of vitamins would you recommend?

I just thought of something I had read one time when searching for articles on twirling. This article mentions that a 'blown inner ear' can cause balance problems and the inability to perch. Made me think of your bird. You might want to try Trimethoprim Sulfa (or Medistatin/Nystatin) on your hen.

Thanks Sally,
I tried those meds when this first started to happen months ago and didn't see any improvement.
Though, I never increased vitamins for her. I guess it's worth a try, thanks FinchsRUs .
