Just a quick note to anyone in the calgary, alberta, canada area who is looking for zebra finches. Apparantly our humane society in town is up to their neck in zebbies of different colours. I know I'll be heading there as soon as I can. They are asking $ 5.00 per bird.

I'm going to move this post to the Marketplace forum, where more people might see it. Also, the Marketplace forum is open to the public, where the Introductions forum is not, so this way more people will see this post and hopefully adopt some of those Zebras. Sadly, many Zebras wind up in shelters on or craigslist because people bought on an impulse or didn't think ahead to what they would do with babies if they let their birds breed.

Thanks for response.I dont understand why a lot of people have this opinion about zebbies. I see peoples ads whete they want diffetent finches but specify that they dont want zebras. I think zebbies are one of the prettiest, cutest, most funny and adorable finches there are . I absolutely love them but knowing how prolific they tend to be, I chose to keep only male as pets, not breeders.

lovezebs a lot of people have a certain opinion of zebras because they can be quite aggressive. I have zebra finches and I love them to death but can understand why people feel the way they do. Dealing with zebra aggression can be emotionally and mentally exhausting and heartbreaking at times and shifting birds around is never fun to try and keep the peace. I have 6 zebras in individual cages because of this and though I love them all and enjoy them and prefer zebras over any other species there were certainly times I was fed up with how they acted and how ruthless they could be. It really depends on the individual and how much you can deal with as far as problems. In my opinion zebras are one of the breeds that are more like having children.

Thanks for reply. LOL. I have both zebbies and two sons... Honestly... I've had a lot less problems with the feathered kids.
