Owls near The Villages, FL?

Hubby will be going to visit his parents in The Villages, FL later this month. Even he is toying with the idea of bringing back some finches (meaning it's not just me thinking of this.) If he gets the guts to decide to do this, I'd want him to bring back owls, as we both like the looks of them, but have never found any available where we live here in the frozen north.

Does anyone know of someone with Owls available near The Villages? If he doesn't want to risk it this trip, he will be going down again probably every few months (his mom may not be doing so well, details are sketchy, so he's going down to see for himself).

From what I understand, The Villages are east of Orlando, no more than an hour away.

He can search hoobly or ebay pet classifieds. There should be owls in Orlando.

Here are two:

Wow, this guy should be writing for "As Seen On TV" ads. =D>

Is that what owls cost in Florida? $125 each? Geez, I could get them ordered in up here from skanky scaly-face-mite-petstore chain for that or less, when their source is offering them. Then, of course, I'm risking skanky s-f-m-petstore chain contamination, and you pay for the birds sight unseen when ordered.

sigh. I guess no owls.

Owls are easily found around here for 100 or less each.
Maybe check hoobly if you don't like pet stores

Our local pet stores, the ones that carry finches, are just disgustingly dirty. And now the one that, while dirty, did get in some varied kinds of finches, is the one that I got the budgie who broke out in scaly face mites (and is responding quite nicely since I noticed it early). So no more birds from that store, ever, I guess, they put their birds in two of those four-high split breeder cage units side by side in a tiny glass enclosure, and while they do change out the bottom trays, they never clean the cages themselves. Risky to buy from them at all, I know, but that's what we have up here. The others are worse.

Maybe in the spring, we'll take a train into the city and get some. Metro North wouldn't mind birds, neatly caged and tucked away in a tote bag, on the train, would they?

Someone near me has some listed for $50.00 each. I'm only an hour and a half from the villages. Riverview is even a bit closer. http://tampabay.ebayclassifieds.com/bir ... d=31221656 Bob
