Bill Dager, who is a member of this forum, is planning on bringing Owl finches to the Cleburne mart. He has fawns for sure, and I believe also normal and splits. He will be at table A6, just across from Finch Row, which is the wall to the left as you enter the hall. Helen Hoffman may also have some, so you should be able to get a pair. If you want to make sure you get a pair, you will want to get there when the doors open at 10am to the general public. Your other option is to contact a vendor and reserve a pair. Most vendors will hold birds for a short period of time for you, but will not hold them for a long time--too many of us have been burned by holding onto a pair of birds for a promised buyer who never shows up.
Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at
www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on housing, nutrition, and especially the Owl finch. You might also be interested in looking into the Fort Worth Bird Club (
www.fortworthbirdclub.com). We meet the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens from 2pm to 4pm. We have a short business meeting, a social time to enjoy the food that members bring, and then a program that lasts about one hour. It is a great group of people. Our May meeting is different, it is May 3 at a local assisted living home, where we will put on a program about various pet birds. We will be putting on a second mart on October 17, and our annual bird show is September 19 (all mart/show events are at the Cleburne Conference Center).
